Auckland squadron of The League of Frontiersmen passed a resolution to inform the Legion Commandant, in common with other squadrons and troops of the Legion, that it stands ready for command to active service in defence or against any forces seeking to overthrow constitutional Government, and urging legislation for the imposition of a severe penalty on persons disseminating disloyal, seditious propaganda. BOXING. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 7. As a result of correspondece from Brisbane and Sydney, the New Zealand Boxing Council has rescinded the resolution not to send a team to the Australasian championship. Maddox (bantam), Desmond (light), Lawless (welter), and McCleary (heavy), will be asked to go. The Secretary reported that Clabby had requested that consideration of his appeal be held over, as he desired t 0 submit an additional state ment. POLICE ENQUIRY. WELLINGTON, Oct. 7. An inquiry into the Circumstances which led to the resignation of D'.tec-tive-Sergt. G. Mason from the police force and into allegations made by him against Wellington police methods, was resumed to-day. Mr Skerrett in opening the case for the defence submitted that the charges were wanton and were without foundation, and unworthy ol the tribunal got up to investigate them Inspector Mellveney, giving evidence staled ho told Mason in connection witl the charge against Miles and Millanto of stealing sanitary pans belonging t( the Petone Borough Council, that h< did not wish anyone to tell an untrutl He also told Mason that at the tinu there waß evidence only against Mile and Millanto and not against a thin man.
