THE HOUSE. WELLINGTON, Oct. 4. The House met at 7.30 p.m. ' The following local Bills were put through the final stages and passed:— Christchurch Drainage Amendment Bill (Mr Isitt); Auckland Harbour Board Empowering Bill (Sir W. Herrics) ; Wanganui Borough Council Vesting and (Employing Bill (No 2), (Mr Veitch); Dunedin City Corporation Bill (Mr Statham); Bay of Islands Harbour Bill, (Mr Reed); Gisborne Harbour Board Amendment Bill (Mr Lysnar); Wanganui River Trust Amendment Bill (Mr Veitch). In connection with Thames Harbour Board Loan and Empowering Bill, second reading, (Mr T. W. Rhodes), who was in charge of the Bill agreed to the insertion of an. Amendment providing for the setting up of a commission to adjust the boundaries of the proposed harbour district. This overcame the opposition of Sir W. Herries and the i Bill was passed. Mr Massey stated twelve tenders had been received from abroad for new rolling slock for New Zealand railways and a contract bad been let to the North British Coy of Glasgow. The total cost of tweny-five locomotives was £300,875; of 2500 waggons £814,125, exclusive of freight and cost of erection in New Zeafand. The total estimated cost of engines and waggons on rails in New Zealand would be about £1,700,000. After discussing Ministers answers to questions the llopsc rose at 9.40 p.m.
