ARAHURA FAT STOCK SALE

A FIRM MARKET

The regular forSnightly fixture at Araliura was held yesterday, the yarding comprising 87 head of very prime cattle from South Westland and 93 fat sheep. There was a representative attendance of butchers and competition was spirited throughout the sale with the mult that prices per hundred for prime ox and heifer beef advanced at least 5/ per hundred compared with last sale. The prices nagging as follows:—Ox b'eef GO/- to 72/6, heifer beef 55/- to 65and cow for sheep was however, slack, heavy weight wethers (a small pen) making 52/-

Special note should be made of the excellent cattle yarded by Mr R. Adamson, 'Rotokino. and Mr J. Condon of Mahitahi, the latter securing the highest price for the day with a fine four year old shorthorn bullock which realised the sum of £33/10/-. 'Hie following sales were recorded: Messrs G. W. Moss and Co., sold on account R. Adamson and Co., 3 prime bullocks at £3O, 2 at £29/10/2 at £BB/10/-, 2 at £26, 4 at £24/10/, 3 at £24, 2 at £2l, and 2 at £l9/12/6.

Messrs W. Jeffries and Co. sold as under:—

Sheep—On account F. Ellis, 6 prime wethers at £2/12/-. On account of Mr P. Heslan, 41 fat ewes and wethers at 42/6 Cattle—On account Jno. Condon,- 1 prime bullock at £33/10/-, 2 at £26/10/-, 3 at £26, 3 at £23/15/-, 2 at £22-/5/-, 1 light weight steer at £ls/7/6, 2 prime heifers at £2l, 3 at £l9/10/-, 3 at £lB/5/-, 1 at £l7/10/-, 3 at £l7, 3 at £l6/2/6, 1 at £ls/12/6, 1 at £2O/10/1 fat cow at £l9, 2 at £ls, and 3 at £ls/15/-. On account Mr Thos. Condon, 3 bullocks at £lB/15/-, 1 prime at £2O/10/-, 3 at £l6, 1 prime cow at £2O/10/-, 2 medium cows at £l4/15/-. On account Mr M. Patri -k 1 prime bullock at £24/5/-, 1 at £22, 2 at £23/17/6, 2 at £23/2/6, 1 at £2O/2/6, 2 at £lB/2/6, 1 fat cow at £l7/5/-, 2 at £l7, 2 at £l6/5/-, 2 at £ls, 1 at £l4/5/2at £l3/5/-, 2at £l3. On account Mr Olderog, 1 fat heifer at £l7.

Messrs M. Houston and Co. report: We held our usual sale at the above yards yesterday, the usual buyers being present. Competition was good, ox beef averaging about 65s npr hundred. We sold on account of Mr J. Adamson 8 bullocks at £26, 2 at £2O 17s 6d, 3 at £2O, 2at £l9 55," 1 at £l9 17s 6d 2 at £l9, 2at £l9 7s 6d. On account of Alt J. Harris 1 fat wether at 535. On account of Mr J. Olson 1 hack at £6 ; (privately) 130 fat sheep on account of Air J. Adamson at 465.
