WELLINGTON, October 1 THE COUNCIL.
The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m.
The Military Service Amendment, Valuation of Land, Electric Power Boards Amendment and Health Bills were received from the House and read a first time. The debate on the Treaties of Pe:uAmendment Bill occupied tho Council till it rose at 4.15 p.m. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. , Te Aroha Crown Leases Ball was read a second time By 39 to 15 and put through committee without amendment. The House went into Committee on the Civil List Bill, No 2, with which progress w<ts made, the following increases being agreed to, Speaker of Legislative Council, £800; Chairman of Committee, £700; Members of the of Reps £SOO. The Premier agreed that the increases should date from Ist. April. Ministers salaries were post poned. Progress was reported on the Bill and the House rose at 1.52 a.m.
