SOUTHERN DIVISION

The usually weekly meeting of the Southern Division was held on Monday evening at 8.15 p.m. Present Messrs A. ll.°Lawn (chair.), D. and A. Dowell, W. A. Berry, T. Gillooly, A. Cutbush, H. Harker, V. W. M. Bonar, D. Dee and E. W. Heenan (Sec.) The minutes of previous meeting were received and confirmed. Three of the four Ross men who were disqualified were present before the Union explaining their cases. They were accompanied by N. , Scott, Thomas Jones did not appear. The men explained that their bad behaviour was due to having taken too much liquor on the day and all were heartily sorry and apologised to lioth Union and referees for their conduct. Various delegates asked questions relat ing to the men’s behaviour. The deputation then, withdraw. It was moved and seconded that the case lie reopened and the previous suspension rescinded. —Carried. It was l-esolved that, the four men, Thomas Jones, J. Rochford, W. Inglis, and D. Cunningham, he suspended for a period of twelve months as from Sept. 27th., 1920. As the Southern Division have a slight credit balance it was resolved to bring forward suggestions as to what should be done with the money by next fortnight. It was unanimously resolved" to vote the Secretary the sum of £5/5/- for services rendered also to donate a gold medal to the Hokitika Boxing Association, the'" prize to be for the winner of the Novice event. The Secretary reported that the Ball would show a profit of nearly £5, which was considered most satisfactory. There being no further business, the meeting closed the usual n/ote of thanks to the chair.
