MIST" M-lAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION

DUNEDIN, September 27. At a meeting of the Otago Cricket Council to-night a telegram was received from the New (Zealand Cricket Council in Christchurch, stating that Auckland, Wellington, and Canterbury had been able to find £IOOO each for two matches against the English team, and asking if the Otago Association could guarantee the £SOO for one match. It was decided that owing to the position of the Association it was not prepared to give any financial guarantee, the opinion being expressed that it would be preferable if they could arrange for a visit from a team from Australia-.
