fAUSTRALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION] I.W.W. FOILED . (Received this day at 10.20 a.m.) MEXICO CITY, Sept. 27. It is believed the efforts of the I.W.W to engage Mexican Labour in a genera] strike fixed for Ist October have failed. Demonstrations were held throughout Mexico on Sunday, but the proceedings were orderly and only resulted in resolutions relating to the cost of living. The I.W.W. delegate had announced previously that the meetings were called to arrange for Mexican participation in a general strike planned to take place throughout the American continent, and which was afteVwards to spread over the whole world.
RACIAL EQUALITY. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) OTTAWA, Sept. 27. Canadian official circles are greatly interested in intimations from Tokio that Japan will insist on race equality at the forthcoming meeting of the League of Nations. The opinion is expressed that Canada will take an important part in the discussions. It is believed the Dominion will be hostile to Japan’s proposal, owing to the Japanese problem in British Columbia, uheie there is bitter opposition to racial equality. ’ ARGENTINE WOOL. (Received This Day at 8.10 a.m.) BUENOS AYRES, Sept. 26 Government submitted'to Congress a project to facilitate tbe sale and export of enormous stocks of wool amounting to 22,471,231 kilograms, accumulated! in tbe Argentine, which if sanctioned, will result in early disposal to foreign countries, who will receive two years credit. The Italian Government offered to purchase fifty thousand tons.
