SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th.
■ The Board -met at 5 p.m. Present — Messrs R. Wild (Chairman), J. J. Mclntosh, J. J. Breeze, and C. J. Nightingale. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. Front Public Health Department, in regard to local bodies being able to raise loans without a poll, and that power had been in existence for 20 years. The Health Bill theretore does not introduce any new principles.— Received. From Excelsior Football Club, thanking Board for use of shed, during the season, which is now concluded. —Received. From Mrs Bernhard, Ngahere, stating she bad sold her property in Fitzherbert Street.— Received. From J. Olson, stating be bad sold various properties in the Harbour latjng area. —Received. From Greymouth Harbour Board, drawing attention to an error in their published balance sheet. —Received. From Harbour Association, with regard to amendment in Land and Income Tax Bill, to repeal section exempting Harbour Boards from paying income tax, and suggesting representation be made at once to local parliamentary representative.—Received. From T. E. Y. Seddon, stating that the Premier had advised him that liability for income tax of Barbour Boards would be removed without doubt
—Received. From New Plymouth Borough Council, regarding the issue of debentures of £IOO each, and inviting application. —Received.
From Waitaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, regarding provisions in the new Public Health Bill, stating conditions could be carried out by existing local officers, and not by local bodies as is proposed in the Bill—Received. From Valuation Department, re al-teration-of district and local valuation rolls—Received. From Arthur D. Riley and Co., Wellington, giving description of Albion hydraulic tipping waggons.—Received. From Andersons, Christchurch, advising that they had been appointed sole agents for Imperial motor rollers. —Received. From Guardian and Times Coy., re increase in advertising rates as from October Ist.— Received. From W r . Scott, harbourmaster, reporting channel running north-west, owing to the continuous south-west weather with depth of water 9 feet at neap tides, and 11 feet at spring tides. From W r . Scott, harbormaster, asking for three months leave of absence. Granted, the Chairman to engage a man when required during Mr Scott’s
absence. . „ r _ , lb was resolved to appoint Mr Borton permanent secretary. It was resolved to have some necessarv repairs done to the transit shed. The meeting then terminated.
