PALMERSTON N., Sept. 22,

~A special,,meeting. ; pf the Manawatu Rugby Unipp, to-day r , discussed the .referee’s decision in the. Moascar Cup final, and it was decided to forwaid the following protest to the New Zealand Rugby' Union :—“That as the ruling of. the referee,, that the, kicking of .the ball oyer the dea.d-bail line,by the attacking side constituted a forceidown, w.as contrary. to the rules of Rugby, and contrary to, tire.special rules issued . by the? New Zealand Union.,for ,tho ; control of the Moascar Cup,competition, and contrary also to the interpretation of-the, word.‘force-down’ agreed upon,between Mr Colquhoun and Mr -Stewart,: the managers of the, respective teams,; prior to the players taking, the. held,, this union protests , against ( the match 'being awarded to. the ChristchurchSchool, and asks that,the teams should be bracketed as co-winners ,pf the cup for the 1920 season.” .The union also decided to invite the Christchurch High School to play a friendly,match against the Palmerston High-School at Palmerston on September ’29. or.
