. The attractions on Cass Square tomorrow afternoon will ho a kicking competition and a schools match. The kicking competition will he among members of the Diggers Football Club for a gold medal presented by the President. The competing players are requested to be on the ground at 2 o’clock so as to enable the contest to he concluded in tim'd to allow the schools game to commence at 3 o’clock. The details of the competition were published on Tuesday and comprise both place and drop kicking, in front of the goal and at angles. The contest should prove an interesting one.
At three o’clock the inter schools match Reefton v. Hokitika, takes place and a good contest can be looked for. The school hoys are playing excellent football this year, throwing the ball about well ns an example to their elders, and the game should prove very attractive.
The gale receipts to-morrow are being tfevoted by the Southern Division to the school boys fund, part going towards the expenses of the visitors, and the remainder to the local school team’s fund. It is hoped that the gate receipts will he a substantial one, to jshow that the action of the Southern Division is. fully appreciated and supported by the general public. The visiting Reefton school boys team arrive this evening and remain till Monday 1 morning.
To-morrow afternoon the Hokitika public will have the opportunity of witnessing perhaps the finest game of football played on the Square this season; the game to decide the Secondary School’s Championship of the Coast. Those who have seen the Reefton team playing, and on paper they appear to have a stronger and heavier combination than that recently sent by Westport ,consider that the local lads will have to play a faultless game to win*
