WELLINGTON, Sept. 22. THE CQUMGiL. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m.
Hon MacGregor gave notice of intention to introduce the Marriage Amendment Bill No 2.
Sir Francis Rell moved the second reading of the Immigration Restriction Amendment Bill, which was agreed to after a brief "debate and the Bill was referred to the Statutes Revision Committee.
Whakatane Harbour Amendment Bill and Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill were received from the House and read a first time.
Hon Dr Collins moved, in accordance with notice, that in the opinion of the Council, the time is ripe for initiating a comprehensive scheme for the purpose of further improving the general welfare of the people, the encouragement of thrift and prevention and early detection of disease,. The discussion was proceeding when the Council adjourned at 4.40 p.m.
THE HOUSE. The House ‘met at 2.30 p.m. Practically the work of the House oi Representatives was limited to passing the Master and Apprentices Bill through Committee. Nineteen divisions were taken, but only an amendment proposed by the Minister was agieed to. The House rose at 3.30 a.m.
