/The Painters Health Protection Pill (Mr Veitch) was introduced and read; a lirst time.
Replying to Mr Parry, Mr Massey said he to send the Conciliation Ooinpiissipner to Auckland, and perhaps to Huntly, to endeavour to settle the coal trouble in the north. He also regretted to state another strike of four days had taken place at tho State Mine, which condition of affairs could not go on.
The Joint Committee on the Civil List Bill, No 2, recommended that tho scale of honaria should be as follows: — Legislative Council, Speaker £800; Chairman of Committee £450; members £350; House of Representatives, Speak er £1,000; Chairman of Committees, £700; members £SOO. The new honaria, it was suggested should be paid from the date upon which members were elected, and in case of members of legislative Council from the corresponding date or from date ofi appointment..
The committee also suggests setting up of funds for purposes of aiding exmembers and their families, requiring assistance.
EVENING SITTING. At the evening sitting the House went into Committee on Municipal Corporation Bill, which was aftenyards read a third time, and passed. The House rose at 12.5,
