RECENT STOCK SALES
On the Bth inst., Messrs Jeffries and Co held their Kokatahi Spring Sale, the yarding consisting of 36 sheep, 73 head of cattle and three horses. A good attendance of buyers was present and good lines and milkers, near to profit were in demand—poorer sorts and old cows being neglected.
The following sales were recorded. On account W. Kelly, 30 ewes at 30s, seven wethers at 27s 6d, 17 (small) hoggets at 16s. On account W. Jones, 6 heifers (springers) at £9 12s 6d. On account M. Williamson, 2 steers at £6 12s 6d. Op apcqunt R. Weir, one springer at £7 7s 6d, one dry cow at £4, six yearling heifers at £4 ss, one aged bull £2. On account of J. Shannon, four 15 mos. heifers at £5 2s 6d. On account T. Crough junr. six calves at £3 ss. On account Mr steers at £8 Iftss,
WAITAHA DAIRY SALE. At Deakin’s Yards, Waitnha on the 10th. inst., a mqst successful sale of dairy stock for Mr Chns Evans was held by Jeffries and Co. This fixture was confined to dairy lines only, and as
the figures below will show was the most successful sale of this class of stoolc ever held in Westland. Several of the cows made-upwards of £2O, Competition came from Kotuku and Totnra Flat in the north to Wataron in tfte south and was keen throughout the sale. The cattle were yarded in good order, and being from, a well tried out herd were keenly sought after. The following sales were recorded: 2, 2nd cows at £lB 18s each; 2 do at 191 guineas; one 3rd. cow calf at 14 guineas; 2 4th cows at 19 guineas; two do at 17 guineas; 3 3rd calf cpwii at 191: guineas ; 3 sth calf cows at 13 guineas; 1 do at 123 guineas; 1 do at 17 guineas; 1 heifer, (springer) at 123 guineas; 4 do at 12. V guineas; 2 do at 101 guineas; 3 do at 94 guineas; 2 do at 93 guineas; 2 (R.W.8.) heifers at 81 guineas; 2 do at 71 guineas. Two yearling heifers 53 guineas; 1 3 y.S.H. bull at 84 gl'iueiis; i 3-yr. Jersey bull a* guineas.
' BOLD HEAD YARDS. At the Bold Head yards on Wednesday the yarding comprised 81 head qf cattle aqd 3 horses. There was a jarge attendance and bidding was very keen ,the lines being all good sorts in hot demand and fho prices indicate the extent to which graziers will have to pqjy during the next few weeks for good clean well grown lines. The following lines were sold. On account of Mrs Chinn 5 dry cows at £6. On account J. Cropper 4 15-mos heifers at £5 10s; 7 do steers at £6 7s 6d. Op account Trembath Bros 1 steer at £8 10s; 2 18-moi heifers at’ £7 10s; 1 dry COW £7 10s; eight yearling steers at £4 10s. On account T. Elcock, 2 2-yr steers at £8.145; 2. 2-yr bulls at £4 ss; 4 yearling.hei.fers at £4; 1 aged cow at £;■ i empty cow at £4 os; 2 cows, sprs. £9; 2 18-mo,s baiters, nt £0 ss; 2 empty cows at £B. On account H. McGowan, 2-yr steers at £6 ss. On account J. Smith, fifteen 18-mos. steers af £8 11. On account H. Linktator, 18 2J-yr. Ste£ r 3 qt 7s 6d; 1 stag at £8 2s 6d. ‘On account Jos. Manera, 13 18-mos steers at £8 10s; 1 light trap mare £l3; one hack at £8; 1 spring trap mare at £ls.
