ENGLISH CRICKET TEAM
A CRITICISM. LONDON, Sept. 13. Faulkner reviewing the English team, expects England to retain the “ashes,” but criticises the fielding, especially the out field. The. bowling is doubtful. Though Parkin is a most uncomfortable bowler, lie is far below Barnes. After the first matches? his slows become expensive. Douglas will have to bear the brunt of the attack. Wilson’s length is likely to result in stonewall batting, and many a long day’s fielding. Hobbs, Hearne, Hendren, Russell and Woolley are at the top of their form, hut their best is needed, as seldom has an English team had a greater tail.
ENGLISH CRICKET. LONDON, Sept. 13. Middlesex scored 302 for 8 wickets against the rest of England. Longman made 66, Hendren 65, and Stevens 65 (not out). The rest of England team included eight who are going to Australia.
