At the Golf Championship yesterday at Westport, Mr Chesnpy, (Hokitika), was beaten by Mr Fair (Westport), in the round by 1 up. To-day Messrs Fair (Westport), and Simes (Greypiouth) play off the. final for the mop’s championship. The ladies championship will be played off also, the coippetitors being Westport ladies. AUCKLAND, Sept. 8,

J. H. Kirkwood, of ■ Rivcrsdale, Victoria ,and A. M. East, of Concord,. New South Wales ,tlio two Australian professionals' who are competitors at the New Zealand Championship Meeting, which opens at Hamilton next week, visited the Auckland Golf Club’s Midclleniore links to-day, and played a four-some game with E. J. Moss, the Auckland Club professional, and G. L. Martin, late professional to the Heretaunga Club, Wellington. Moss partnered East, and Kirkwood played with Martin. The former were one up on the morning round, and two up in the afternoon, which was a very tine performance. Tlie bogey for the course is 70 46 out and 36 in. Kirkwood did 72 in the second round, and got a fopr at the ninth, which is the longest hole, and just missed his putt for a three at the eleventh, fifteenth, and sixteenth, East, playing to the sixteenth, „ot a beautiful tluee, which was very line golf, as there was al strong head wind at the time. Kirkwood’s score reads'as follows, bogey being given in parenthesis:— ’ r Out— 1 !
