:» WAIKATO MINERS’ STRIKE. AUCKLAND, Sept. 7. There is no change to report in connection with the coal miners’ strike in the Waikato mines and no work was done to-day. The Huntly miners will hold a meeting to-morrow. There was a considerable demand for coal in the city to-day, in anticipation of a shortage.
THE CQAL TROUBLE. GORE, Sept. 8. The coal position in the eastern district is unsatisfacory. A conference with Mr Hally was arranged this morning, but the employers failed to attend. The miners issued an ultimatum and a strike is threatened if a com prom sie is not arranged. It will probably affect the other mines working under the national agreement. .
