LONDON, September 4.
The Queen’s Club withdrawals from the Athletic teams, at last moment, included the Ameiiean, Paddock, owing to illness and also A. G. Hill, the British Olympic representative, who was disabled. Hunt of Australia was on the programme, but he was replaced by the air force champion Sergeant-Ma-jor Mawby. Oosterlank of South Africa was pitted against Jverksey of North America in the opening stage of the half. mile relay race. The South African led throughout, securing an advantage which all the subsequent Americans vainly endeavoured to destroy. The ©their Englishmen were Butler, Magby and the New Zealander Davidson. The last named shot home 6 yards ahead. Thompson won the 120 yards hurdles by I 5 yards. The New Zealander, Wilson did not compete. Rudd was firstin the two mile relay, time 7.53 i-5. This was a great race. Mountain of England gave Budd the batton thirty yards to the good and Rudd raced away from Scott of America, as he liked and won by twenty five yards.
