'I he deceased was a. native of St Holier, Channel Islands apd 76 years of fig?t. He came to the West Coast in the early days and followed mining pursuits ail over the West Coast settling at Rjmu fit the time of the rush thpre, where he remained until some ten years ago having to give up work and came to Hokitika to live quietly. He was a sturdy type of the old pioneer. He was 'a single man, and was a brother of the late Mi John Bevan. He was also a prominent member of the Pacific Lodge of Freemasons. Many friends will regret to hear of his death.
