BOXER’S LITTLE JOKE. GISBORNE, Sept. 3. A fine of £25 \vas Inflicted by Magistrate Barton to-day on Les -Gieeson, the well-known Australian -professional boxer, for giving a false alarm of fire from a residence in which wedding festivities were being held.

FUNERAL OF HON MACDONALD. GISBORNE, Sept. 3. The funeral of the late Hon W. D. S.. MacDonald was one of the largest ever •held in Gisborne, the whole district from Napier to East Cape and Tnuranga being represented, as well as friends from Wellington. The body arrived! from the South this morning, ,and was taken from the steamer Araliura to the Presbyterian Church, where a service was held. The pallbearers were Messrs Ngata, Forbes and Hockley (M embers of Parliament), Wildish, (Mayor of Gisborne), Matthews (Chairman of the County Council), and Tullock (Chairman of the Waikohu County. The mourners included Hon Nosworthy, Mr T. E. Y. Seddon, representatives of Government Departments, and members of every local body in the Poverty Bay and Bay of Plenty districts. Tire motor cars in the cortege extended almost a mile, and the route from the town to near Mnkaraka Cemetery was lined with people. RAILWAY APPEAL BOAIUL INVERCARGILL, Sept. 3. The sittings of the Railway Appeal Board were continued to-day. • Decisions were reserved in the cases of J. L. Jacobson, (stationmaster at Edendale), and W. Hartley, (goods clerk at Invercargill), against being superceded in the 1913 D classification list.
