The police evidence established the fact bepond doubt that his name is as stated; that he was a returned soldier who liad relatives in Australia ; and that he recently had been employed a.s a groom at Rangiora, A verdict that the cause of'death \yas dislocation of the neck, sustained through deceased falling beneath a. railway train, whilst in motion, was returned. LABOUR AND RUSSIA. DUNEDIN, Sept. 2. At a meeting of the Otago Labour Council a motion was carried: —“That this Council heartily endorses the action of the New Zealand Labour Party in supporting the decision of the British Labour movement set up by the Council of Action for the purpose of preventing war with Russia, and to bring about peace between Great Britain and the Soviet Government. " FORGERY AND, THEFT. . DUNEDIN, August 3(>. Ernest Percival Greenwood and Peter James Innesi, employed as clerks in the Defence Court to-day, charged with forgery and theft. Two, informations were laid against Inncs, viz., committing forgery of a document , f purpiofting to be a Defence voucher, and theft. The total sum in respect of winch lie was charged was under £2. There were eleven charges of the same character against Greenwood, Involving over £65. Both pleaded guilty and wore committed for sentence.
