'Hie Advertisers Congress decided to appoint a Vigilance Committee in each State to report at regular intervals for the purpose of cleaning up all advertising of a doubtful character, the committee to work in conjunction with the police. Addresses were delivered on utilising advertising for increasing immigration, as an impulse to production and as a vehicle of distribution and factor of industrial organisation. The censure motion in the Assembly Was defeated by 40 to 37. Mr Storey announced lie had refused to gazette the increase in the price oi butter, to nullify the decision of the Commodities Commission, but later he found the latter body had the increase gazetted before the Government instructions were given. Boilermakers and engineers are holding a stop-work meeting to reconsider the forty-four hour proposal, having previously decided .against the idea on Saturday. Other unions also contemplate new ballots on the question. MELBOURNE, Sept. 3. Miller, Rugby League Secty. commenting on the report ofthe subcommittee on the amateur ' definition said the three main points seemed to lie the lack of an amateur 'body to control our affairs with Federation Court of Appeal; that amteurs ho allowed 5/- per day expenselsi and that each Club be under purely amateur control.
