LONDON, Sept. 1. The miners’ ballot favours a strike by a majority of 367,917. At a meting of the miners’ Executive it was announced that the ballot ' has resulted as follows: — In favour of a strike, 606,(82. A«ainst a strike, 238,865. This is out* of a total of 1,306,000 men employed.

FEAR OF STRIKE. LONDON, September 1. The National Union of Manufacturers is taking a census of its members as to wliteher all their industries shall be closed down by them in the event ot a miners’ general strike. ,

TRIPLE! ALLIANCE MEETS. LONDON, August 31. The Triple Alliance deliberated for four hours, desiring to draft a resolution showing unanimous support ot the miners claims, despite the efforts made to convince the public that trade unions generally are opposed to the strike, and ajlso throwing upon Government the onus of calling a conference to dismiss their claims. It is reported that it Government does not meet til© miners in a conciliatory spirit, the railway and transport workers unions will support the strike.
