Outside qf Tpkqt a' man on the roadside fired three shots, killing Kemal’s companion, Kemal was hit in the leg. The assassin was captured and executed.

AN EASTERN MURDER
COMMISSIONER OF KHERI KILLED.
DELHI, Sept. 1. The assassination of Mr Willoughby, Commissioner of Idleri, has aroused great feeling in India, which is reflected by the Viceroy’s condemnation of the foul deed, at a meeting of the Legislative Council. ‘ If is expeqtsd that Men) meQsprgsf will he taken against the organise of the Khalifat campaign. Details show that Willoughby was reading a newspaper in his bungalow, when the principal assassin entered apd made a cut at him with a sword, which would have been fatal had it not struck a punka. Willoughby rushed outside, and fell into a drain. The men then cut him over the skull and nearly severed one arm. Four men have been arrested, and several others are under suspicion.
