RUTTER PURCHASE

WELLINGTON, Sept. 1

The Prime Minister has received further communication from London regarding the butter purchase, and has passed it to' the Butter Committee which is likely to meet in Wellington this week. It is anticipated that the retail price of butter from 1 October onwards will not be less than in Australia, where prices are 2s lOd for butter, and IS 7d for cheese. THE COAL MINES. Mr Halley’s recommendations in the coal dispute may not reach the parties for some days. The miners in the meantime are working normally.
