ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.

A FIRMER MARKET,

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day

Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale yesterday.-

Store sheep—A small yarding but a better class than last week and prices were better all round. Best wethers sold to. 38/-, best hoggets 28/-, others 24/- to 26/-. Best ewes to 47/-. The market was much firmer.

Store cattle—<A fair entry but the quality was very mixed and demand not so brisk except for best sorts. 3 and 4 years steers sold from £lO/10/- to £l2/15/-, one pen of extra igood herefords making £l6/12/6; 2 years old steers £7/18/-to £9/2/6; 18 months old mixed sexes £5/5/- to £7/15/-, a few better sorts making to £9/5/-. Beef—A smaller yarding, but the quality, except iri a few cases, was very indifferent no outstanding line offering. Best steers brought • £26/15/to £32/10/ r , medium sorts £l6/15 to £22/10/-; some better quality making £23 to £26; light nndi [unfinished £lO/10/- to £l6/10/-. Extra prime heifers to £27/10/-; prime £l6/15/- to £2l; others £ll/15/- to £l6/10/-. Cows to £24/15/-, prime £l2/10/- to £lB/5/o the ns £9/5/- to £l2. 'Hie market was firm all round.

Mutton—A smaller yarding than last week but still quite sufficient for butcher’s requirements. The market was firriier at the start, but eased afterwards. Graziers took a. fair proportion of unfinished stuff. Best wethers sold to 55/-, prime 41/6 to 49/6 ; medium 37/to 41/-; graziers 34/- to 36/6, but extra good wooled sorts to 39/6. Very few ewes were offering, but they sold well.
