France should please herself to the system of economic association and naval association with Australasia and assure Australians that commercial liberty would bo respected and no Asiatic immigration tolerated. It concludes, that the smarting sore of the condominium will disappear only if England is prepared for a rejuvenation of the l?raneoBritish Alliance outside of Europe.
ADVERTISERS’ CONFERENCE, SYDNEY, Aug. 30,
Preparatory to commencing their business session to-day, advertising men from all parts of Australia and New Zealand assembled for the second Australasian Conference, yesterday held an inspirational meeting of a semi-religious character. The Chairman of the Convention said the object of the Convention was that advertisers should tell the truth, the' whole truth, and nothing but the truth in regard to the commodities tliCy were advertising. Other speakers dwelt upon the influence of advertising upon the character of business, of products, and of men.

BROKEN HILL AWARD. SYDNEY, Sept. 1. An interim report of Judge Edmunds on Broken Hillj,- rejects the millers claims and provides a forty-eight hours week above ground, and forty-four hours below. The report recommends the continuance of 'the contract system and night shift. The miners claimed a thirty six houjrs week and £1 per day. They are dissatisfied with the report, but make no comment.
