TROUBLE NOT SETTLED
AUCKLAND, August 27. The Chelsea sugar factoiiy was ready for a resumption of refining operations to-day, but the men declined to return to work. TRAIN STRIKE SEQUEL. AUCKLAND, August 28. The Crown Solicitor has ■ instituted proceedings against tho Tramway Union in connection with the tramway strike which arose but of tlie Jockey’s Dispute. The hearing is fixed for Sept. 22nd.
HOCKEY SHIELD. AUCKLAND, Aug. 29. The New Zealand Hockey Shield match Auckland (holders) v. Hawke’s Bay, was played yesterday in fine weather, but the ground was heavy. 'Auckland won by 3 to nil. U UKEKAWA AAyiIUER. AUCKLAND, Aug. 29. No arrest has been made in connection witli the murder at Pukekawa. The police under Detective Sergeant Cummings, are still scouring the district in search of evidence, but in the almost complete abs e nce of clues, their work may .be, prolonged and laborious. A reward of £250 is being offered for information leading to the conviction of the murderer. A FLY TO BLENHEIM. BLENHEIM, This Day. Captain Evan Dickson arrived at Blenheim from Wellington at 4.25 on Saturday. He left Wellington at 3.20. It was dull when he left and raced a bank of clouds. Otherwise it was a fine trip. He will be reaching Christchurch probably oil Tuesday or Wednesday.
