August 25. Thp final 1500 metres swim resulted: Ross (America), 1; Vernon, (G’anada) 2; Beaurepaire, (Victoria) 3. In the ladies hundred metre swim, Miss Walrond, (New Zealand) was third in her heat and competes in the final. Miss Bleibtry, (America) won the heat in 74 2-5 secs, lowering the Olympic record by 5 2-5 secs. In the ladies tennis singles final, Mile. Lenglen (France), beat Miss Holman (Britain) G-3, 6-0. The cross country running teams placings were: Finland 10 points, Britain 20, Sweden 23. Details of the one hundred metres swim show it was a great race, Kaluynamoku lowering his own world’s record by one fifth of a second. Ross, Harris and Herald dead heated for third place. Harris was all out and had to be lifted from the water and miassagod for ten minutes before he was able to stand. TKe judge’s decision that the race be reswum caused no surprise, Herald being clearly boxed in.
