DECLAMATION OF WAR. (Received this day at 9.3 t) a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 25. The Pall Mall Gazette says it is reported the Russian delegation admitted their departure to be practically equivalent to a declaration of war upon England and that it would take the form of an attack upon Britain’s East*ern Empire.
CROSSING THE FRONTIER. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) COPENHAGEN, Aug. 25 Twenty-six thousand Russians retreated into East Prussia. A whole brigade with its staff crossed the frontier near Johannesburg. PEACE TERMS. . (Received this day at' 9.30 a.m.) VANCOUVER, Aug. 26. United Press reports the reply to the Anglo-Italian ultimatum offers to waive any armistice terms proposed at Minsk and not contained in the digest which Kameneff submitted. Hon Lloyd George in a message from Paris, states the Poles have entered Grodno, but according to semi-official statements issued in Berlin, the Polish armies are facing a serious ammunition shortage, and the Bolsheviks arc preparing a new line on Niemen. RUSSIAN FIRES. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) HELSINGFORS, August 25. Soviet newspapers report a continuance of devastating fires in many' parts of Russia. Thousands of acres of forests were destroyed and five hundred houses burned in Vologda, involving the death of 150 persons.
