The F.W.D. (Four Wheel Drive) Trucks are dependable, economical, easy to handle and have proved themselves that their cost is extremeljy low whether on rough country roads or level strets. This is due to the correci • application of the four wheel drive ; principle—an exclusive feature of the F.W.D. Because each wheel is a driving wheel, the load can be so placed as to carry 45 per ceyt. on the front wheels, rear driven trucks carry 85 per ' cent .of their load on the rear apcle. The F.W.D. principle by equalizing strains permits the use of a lighter frame, shorter wheel base and the same size tryes on all four wheels, which means longer truck life, a saving on( fuel and tyro replacement, and an ability to do the best work under roughest conditions. A very heavy gale blew all day yesterday from the north increasing *” violence as the evening wore on, with heavy rain. A remarkably heavy sea j came up, and it made a visitation on the sea beach front of extreme fury. The sea encroached savagely on the rear Revel 1 Street, right along the waterfront. From AVeld Street to the town boundary north, the damage was substantial, fences being washed down and smashed by tbe heavy waves as they came over the bank. The waves encroached into Revell Street in volume from Heinz’s riglit-of-way north, and tbe street this morning was full of rubbish washed in by the waves. Many of the back premises suffered severely, the waves breaking down the back fences rind invading tbe houses, in some of the places being a couple of feet deep for the time being. The scene on the "sea front this morning was a desolate one, hardly a fence standing upright in the affected area. The sea waters made their way down Stafford .Street into Tancrcd Street and down, to AVeld Street, causing a blockage in the drains, tbe streets ‘being covered with water for hours. Most of the damage was done by one large wave that came over about 8 o’clock. To-day the position. is almost normal with the exception of a heavy sea. running.
