A ROUGH PASSAGE. WANGANUI, August 25. The barquentine White Pine arrived last evening from Newcastle direct, coal laden. The supplies will relieve the position at the gas works and some essential industries, where the shortage Was acute. The vessel had a very rough passage across, the trip taking 22 days. Exceptionally heavy gales were met with and head winds, and the decks were awash for eighteen days . GO SLOW POLICY. AUCKLAND, August 25. There was a; large shortage of coal output at Huntly and other districts co] lierics yesterday. It is understood it is part of concerted action through the Dominion in sympathy with Kiripalta and Hikuivrugi, in respect to which the miners’ demands were not conceded. CUSTOMS’ RECORD. AUCKLAND, August 25. The Customs revenue at Auckland yesterday was £31,802, irrespective of a few minor returns, a record for the Dominion. A SUDDEN DEATH. WELLINGTON, August 25. While walking upstairs at his home Glenbernie Terrace, at 6.45 p.m. last evening, Albert Harold Appleby collapsed and died. Ho had been suffering from lung trouble for some time. CHILD’S BODY FOUND. NELSON, August 25. The body of a. child was found washed ashore at Haulashore Island. At the inquest a verdict was returned that the remains were those of an unknown stillborn female child, but that there was no evidence to show how it got there.
