ARAHURA FAT STOCK SALE
A FINE YARDING
The usual stock fixture at the above yards was held yesterday when 64 head of real prime cattle were submitted to competition. Rarely has there been seen in the local yards a better entry for all round, quality than the pens sold yesterday. These cattle were the ones so highly commented upon by the Canterbury Progress League memberswhen they met them at the Little Wanganui on their recent visit South. The long journey on loot had not apparently impaired their condition, and the growers Messrs Gibb Bros, and F. Williams and Sons received many compliments for the condition in which they yarded their entries. There was a good attendance of buyers including a Canterbury operator who secured two trucks of heavy cattle. The top price was for a pen of extra prime Hereford bullocks which made £29 ss, secured by an Otira buyer. Bidding was firm throughout, and at per hundred was equal to late rates.
