FOOTBALL

SOUTHERN DIVISION. Hie usual weekly meeting of the Union was held on Monday evening, Mr A. H. Lawn presiding over the following delegates:—Messrs W. A. Berry, T. Kerr, Amos Dowell, H. Harker, AOutbush, I). Dee, D. Dowell. Apologies were made for T. G (Holly and T. Toohey. The minutes of the . vi'ous meeting were read and confirm-J.

The inward .:' was read and received and outward correspondence approved. Referee’s reports wore read and approved. Tile Secretary reported on his visit to Greymowth, attending meeting, reporting that the Kiwi protest was discussed and as the points constituted facts no appeal could stand and therefore the protest was dismissed. A letter was received from the school thanking Union for consideration in Mr McCullough’s absence.

Mr Harker gave his evidence in connection with the Ross protest. Considerable discussion took place on this protest. Mr Harker was cross examined to some extent -by delegates. Mr Dee on behalf of Ross questioned Mr Harker as to his decisions in the match. Tt was resolved to forward the evidence to the W.C.R.U. and to leave their decision on this matter. Mr Harker to write detailed report for W.C.R.U.

The Secretary explained that Brother Luke, manager of Marist 8-stone football team of Greymouth would like to play the State School Hokitika team as a preliminary match to the Marist Southern Division match on Wednesday, August 25th It was resolved to put this match at 1.39 o’clock, M r Dee to referee.

An invitation received from St Mary’s Club for members of the Southern Division and Referees’ Association to attend the Club on tlie occasion of the Marist team’s welcome was accepted with thanks.
