The Southern Division senior cup competitions will he advanced a further stage to-morrow afternoon when the games sot down for decision are Diggers v. Excelsiors at Hokitika; Kiwis v. ■floss at Ross, and Kuniara v. Kokatahi at Kokatahi. The competition still remains in an interesting stage, and the games should prove interesting, there being every prospect of fine weather and dry grounds. The following will represent the Kiwis in their match with Ross, to be played at -ltoss, to-morrow afternoon: —Glass, Jones, Williams, Kortegast, Irving, Stopforth, Hannan, Devaney, Haile, Walker, Kearns, Wilson, Powley, Shannon, Ross, Cutbush, O’Conjnor.! All the above must he at the Supreme Hall at 7 o’clock sharp this evening. A conveyance leaves the Town Clock at 1 o’clock sharp to-morrow for Ross. The following will represent the Excelsiors in their match with Diggers on Saturday at 3 o’clock:—N. Wogan, McDonald, Chetwynd, A. Wogan L. Ross, Bethune, Maunder, Fraser, Cutbush, D. Heenan, Ait-ken, Wallace, Thompson, E. Heenan and Davidson. Emergencies : Forwards, Breeze and Madgwiek • backs, McCarthy and Kirwan. All players must attend practice at the shed to-night at 7 o’clock sharp. Everyone must he there to make Red and Black good for to-morrow.
Air Jack Steel, the West Coast member of the N.Z. Rep. Team, arrived at Oreymouth last, evening hv the express, and was met by officials of the W.C.U. They were pleased to learn that the accident to Steel proved to have been less serious than was apprehended. His arm was dislocated, nob his shoulder, and lie only spent an hour at Sydney Hospital. His arm is no longer in a sling, but the doctor’s orders are that lie refrain from playing football further this season. The Christchurch Marist Football Senior team, winners of the senior cup, reach the Coast on Tuesday. It will be as follows: F. Brosnahan, L, P. Brosna--1 mil, T>. McCormack, Jas. .McCormack, E. At the New Zealand Rugby Union meeting to-night, an application by th<> Otago Union for the reinstatement of James Coulter was granted. It was deoided that the semi-finals for the Moascar Cup between Palmerston N. Boys’ High School and Te Ante College be played at Napier on Wednesday, August 25th. SYDNEY UNIVERSITY TEAM. SYDNEY, August 19. The Sydney University Rugby Union team, including Lawton, (the Queensland Rhodes Scholar) are on hoard.
