Batting averages arc: —Hendren. 72.8, Hearne 54.19, Hobbs 53.95, Russell 49.94. Bowling: Rhodes 11.62 Woolley 12.08, Howell 14.22, Parkin 15.52. ’
The experts are highly delighted at the form of tlie members of the touring team. Unfortunately, Spooner is unable to play regularly owing to a slight weakness of the knee. It is feared that lie will be unable to assist Lancashire again. Good judges consider that English cricket is 50 per cent above the 1919 form, and is now fully equal to the pre-war standard. A special fenturte is the brillancy of the fielding, particularly amongst the players going to Australia, whose clean gathering and lightning returns render anything like short runs a source of positive danger to batsmen.
