From Wilton and Co., Wellington, r permac jointing.—Received From Military Supplies Office, offer ing gun powder for sale. —Received. From Australian Scales I oy., re vari ous kinds of scales for sale.—Received From Kanieri Sawmill Co., applying for permission to lay tramline along Gibson’s Quay as per sketch plan enclosed.—Resolved that provided a satisfactory scale of charges to other millers for haulage over the lino is submitted, ] the Board will grant the application so far as the land under its control extends, at a yearly rental in proportion to that arranged with the Borough Council. From Minister of Public Health, re proposed new Health Bill. In reference to the clause giving power to local bodies to raise loans for sanitary purposes without taking a poll of the ratepayers.—Received. It was the opinion of the Board that it is not desirable that this power be given. From Harbourmaster, reporting that owing to a flood on the Ist inst., the channel is scoured out to a depth of 12 feet over the bar; also reporting the, unavoidable accident to the s.s. Paeroa. —Received.

ANNUAL RATE. The annual rat© for the year 1919-20 was struck, being the same as last year, viz Id in the £ in the Borougli and Id in the £ outside the Borough Arrears of rates.—lt was Unanimously agreed that a list of arrears of rates as at the 31st August, be made out and same handed to the Board’s solicitors fo reflection Notice to this effect to be published in the Hokitika Guardian for one week. Re offers for launch.—This matter again came up for consideration and «after considerable discussion it was eventually decided to accept the offer of Mr W. P. Morgan at- £66, iMr Breeze dissenting. A resolution of sympathy with the Hokitika Shipping Coy. and residents of South Wertland in the unavoidable loss of the s.s, Paeroa was carried unanimously, Receipts since last meeting totalled £lB7 12s Id, while accounts passed for payment amounted to £229 11s lid. ■Bank overdraft £74 17s 6d. Cash in hand, £l9 Is -2d.—Received. This concluded the business and the meeting then terminated with the usual vote of thanks to the Chairman.
