AMUSEMENTS.

POLLARD'S PICTURES.

On Monday next Pollard’s Pictures will show the favourite of the screen Clara Kimball Young as Gabrielle Jardcc, in “The Koad ThrouglL the Dark,” a thrilling story of the War m 1914. Neither kiddies nor women—nor a good many men for that matter like to take the road through the (lark. There is a nameless something about the dark that inspires a shrinking feeling. But the dark road has to be taken some times. That is the big question in the new Select feature drama “The- Road Through the Dark”, and it provides one of the big moments in the play when it comes up for decision. To see beautiful Clara Kimball Young in a tragic incident calling for a thrilling display of womanly emotion is to understand the feelings of the critic who said of her in a moment of ecstasy : ‘‘A milk white gardenia, with its rare fragrance and exquisite beauty and wax-like petals.” This sounds like exaggerated feeling, but it is an indication of the impression created by the famous Star when her wonderful talent is cast for a very special and congenial role, as she is seen in the new Relent fil ,n drama “The Road Through The "Dark I ’a storj of the early period of the war. On Wednesday next the big feature “The Ttayseeds at Melbourne Cup” will he Pollard’s star attraction.
