Much interest is being taken in the games, and with an increased attendance it is hoped that those attending Cass Square will not fail to show they are sports by finding the small silver coin fixed ior admission to the ground.

A correspondent writes:—The competition for the Fowler Cup (which is a very fine piece of workmanship) will be advanced another stage on Saturday and the Clubs are very keen. Ross with a special train to convey their supporters and team arc bringing up the best team to date and the Diggers will havo to play up to their best form. Kumara have certainly a very good chance of winning the cup as they meet one of the strongest teams in the competition on their own ground, and judging by reports there will be a big crowd ol Hokitika public going to. Kuniara that day. Excelsiors and Kiwis are still going strong and these two young teams are going to give ithe Cup a big shake, so reading between the line the cup is causing no end of excitement. It is to be hoped that the public will take into consideration the players when going through the gates to-morrow by burning in a shilling at least, and not pass the man with the box and give him a black look, and say T will give it to you next time, as was done last Saturday when the collection was only a little over fc3 for ‘250 people. Act like true sports and push the game along.

SOUTHERN DIVISION

A special meting of the Hokitika subunion was held last night, a full attendance of members being present. The transfer of Casey from United (Grey), to Kumnr'a was- discussed at some length, and as a result it was decided that owing to the competitions in the Southern Division being so far advanced, they regretted that they could not agree to Casey’s transfer. Members said that they did not wish to convey the impression that they were in any way opposed to the Ktimara team, but the transfer coming at such a period in the competitions, did not meet wih the Sub-Union’s approval.
