CHEESE FACTORY BURNT. WOODVILLE, August 12. About midnight the United Co-Ope-rative Dairy Coy’s McLean Street cheese factory was totally destroyed by fire. Insurances total L 1,820. The loss will be £1,500 above the insurance. P. AND 0. BANK. DUNEDIN, August 12. It is understood a large number of applications have been made in New Zealand for position in the proposed P. and O. Bank and that shares have been allotted the proportions being stated to be eighty per cent to shareholders in P. and O. Coy and fifty per cent to others. It is expected before long that branches will be established in the leading centres of the Dominion. sharp’r kprieved. WELLINGTON August 12. The Executive Council has reprieved John Sharp sentenced to death for the murder of his daughter at Rongahere.
