“HANDS UP”
MELBOURNE DOCTOR ROBBED
Walking through the reserve near the Melbourne Cricket Ground on his way to Richmond railway station, late at night, Dr John K. Adey, oi Che Receiving Home, Royal Park," was attacked and robbed by three voting men. According to the report made tfi police, one of the men first asked the doctor for a cigarette. This request was immediately followed by an attack from the other men, one of whom presented what appeared to he a revolver and commanded --“Hands up!” The doctor, however, gripped the' weapon, which, to his surprise, broke jn bis hand. It wqs evidently a toy revolver, as lie could fpel the spring cpmpress in tlie barre]. The doctor was gripped by the throat, thrown to the ground, and robbed of a golf] watch, a fountain pen, and the sum of 16.5. The three men ran away in the direction of Richmond.
