AMUSEMENTS.

POLLARD’S PICTURES. TO-NIGHT 1 TO-NIGHT! Howard-Hickman in “Blue Blood” is responsible for a startling characterisation oi the role of a scion of the aristocracy, cursed with an hereditary taint, which in no way deters him, spite of warnings, from marrying a beautiful society girl. Magnificent scenes show the history of the ancestors responsible for the bar sinister, and equally startling are the scenes where Wellington, th e aristocrat, descends to depths in his mad revels. The circumstances which unite his wife, after her husband’s death,, with, the man she should- have married, bring about the ending of the play that should have a wide appeal.

“Bluo Biood” deals with a much vexed question, that of fitness for marriage. Howard Hickman, as Wellington, is affected by hereditary paresis, a legacy from some ancestor, and is warned by physicians against marriage. From lust of yower and wealth he refuses guidance and wilfully marries a beautiful society girl, with the results that were prophesied. Tile story developes on the film in a startling manner, and while the subject is in effect rather gruesome, it is so beautifully pro dueed and acted, that one can but admire . its effects. Gorgeous scenes are introduced to bring in the history of the ancestors whose legacy of blue blood was to bring such dire results. On Thursday Pollards will present Clara Kimball Young in “Magda” (Sudemann’s great drama). This will easily rank as Miss Young’s best performance. Never lias she seemed so lovely as in this picture—never has she seemed so beautifully dramatic—never has her art shown to such brilliant advantage.
