REFEREES ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of tho Referess Association was held last night at 7 p.m. The President, Mr. M. Houston presided. There were also present: Messrs Douell Gillolly, Dee, Downey and Heenan. The minutes of the previous meeting, were read and confirmed. Reports were received from J. Conning, H. Harker and L. Hills. A letter was received from J. Conning, Association’s Union delegate regretting his inability to carry on this position and asking Association to appoint a new delegate. Mr Downey moved that, the letter lie received.. Seconded by Mr Dee and carried.
It was resolved to leave the filling of this vacancy over till next meeting night. The following referees were appointed for Saturday’s matches:— Kumaru v. Excelsiors at 1.30 p.m. Mr Dowell. Mr Downey proposed Mr Dowell, and seconded by Mr Houston and carried.
Kokatahi v. Ross, Mr Mitchell. Mr Downey proposed Mr Mitchell. Seconded by Mr Dee and carried. Kiwis v. Diggers at 3 p.m. Mr Houston. Mr Downey proposed Mr Houston. Seconded by Mr Dowell and carrier. Mr Houston was duly appointed. Mr Downey asked the Chairman the ruling oil a team being over 15 minutes late oil taking the field.
Tlie Association thought that as lung as teams were doing their best the Association could look for nothing more. Mr Dowell moved that in future the appealing rule be strictly adhered to. Seconded by Mr Gillolly and carried. Discussion then took place in regard to certain rulings. There being no fur. ther business the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
