About iiftoen large ocean going ships arc idle at Kobe and Osako. Fifty other vessels will soon be released from old charter contracts. The prices of ships have declined to 140 dollars per ton. WASHINGTON, July 31 The Department of Agriculture announced the June consumption of wool was 4G million pounds, which is seventeen million below the average monthly consumption for 1920, due to curtailment of textile manufacturing.

Commenting on reports that the Pope regards with disfavour Dr Mannix's speeches, the “Sunday Express’’ understands the Vatican’s Irish pr,lieremains strict neutrality. Mr Balfour recently visited the Pope, with a view to securing intervention against Sinn Fein and asked if he would denounce 'the disturbances and create vacant Bishoprics himself. The Pope replied in the negative to both questions.
