Government proposed to malce arrangements with the Imperial authorities to exchange her for two light cruisers. When tho matter was brought under the notice of tho Minister for Navy he briefly chareterised tho rumour as “piffle,” so that apparently the Australia's position is still secure. Tho Minister also denied another report that special cabins were being built on the Australia for the accommodation of members qf Cabinet for a fortheorning trip; while the naval authorities describe as “absolutely incorrect” the swg gestion that there is a surplus of officers on board the warship.
