AN ATTACK FAILS. LONDON August 1. Thirty men ambuscaded a military motor lorry near Cork, carrying mails, guarded- by nine soldiers equipped with Lewis guns. The attackers threw a bomb into the lorry seriously wounding two soldiers, but were beaten off after tho Lewis- gun had fired a thousand rounds. GENERAL LUCAS. (Received This Day at 8 a.m.) LONDON, July 31. General Lucas left Tipperary in a motor car, escorted by two armoured cars and an aeropiane, for an unknown destinatoin.
