FOOTBALL.
Tlie following will represent “Diggers” in their match with Kokatahi on Saturday at 3 p.m.—A. Dowell, Wells, .Owens, Michel, Tainui, B. Dowell, Wilson, Curley. Cutbush, Morgan, Inglis, Nancekevill, Askew, Muir, and Brown. A meeting of the Southern Division was held on Wednesday evening. Mr A. -H. Lawn presided. There were present, W. A. Berry, I). Doe, D. and A. Dowell, A .Cutbush, T. Kerr, V. V . M. Boner, and E'. Heennn, (Sec.) J. Conning and T. Gillollv were apologised for. 'Hie minutes of the previous meeting wore read and confirmed. Inward correspondence was read and received. Outward correspondence was read and approved. A letter was received from the t.orough Council in reply to the Union’s letter. The Council and the Southern Division intend pulling together in keeping the pavilion and grounds .clean.
A letter was received from Marists (Christchurch) team, intimating they were sending a team across on Aug. 25th to play a Hokitika representative team. The team will lie very welcome, the Union doing all in its power to assist. Tt was agreed to give the Marist team all the gate receipts, excepting expenses. Mr Cutbush moved that a letter of thanks be written to the Diggers’ Club for use of jerseys. Seconded by Mr Lawn and carried. Referees' reports were received as .ollows:—Excelsiors v. Kiwis, Mr Downey: Kumnrh v. Ross, Mr Steel; Diggers v. Kokatnlii. Mr Hills. The Referees’ Asoeiation delegat('’s report was read and received.
Mr Dowell moved that all offending players and referees attend a meeting of the executive following the incident. Seconded by Mr Dee and carried. Mr Cutbush said that all members of the Executive must keep the business of the meeting strictly private. Mr Berry supported Mr Cutbush. A letter was received conveying tl.e withdrawal of Excelsior humors rim banner competition. It was resolved to entertain the \1 irist team with a social and dance in honour of their visit. It was resolved to ask the Sergeant of Police to allow constables to attend Cass Souare and help tile Union to keep the public off the touch line. The meeting concluded with the usual vote of thanks to the eliair.
