OLD COLONISTS RETURNED.
Quite a number of well-known colonists returned by the Ruahine last week. Among them were Mr J. Ross, of Ross and Giendenning, witlr his wife and family, and will take up his permanent residence in Dunedin. He has been in England since 1905. Dr A. R. Green, a son of Mr Henry Green of Christchurch, was in England when war broke out, and volunteered for active service, being attached to ibe mpshire regiment, and was afterwards transferred to Salonika, on account of tho short supply of doctors there. Ho served in the Near East till just before the armistice was declared, and was on the staff of the Bath Military Hospital immediately prior to leaving Homo. Among other decorations he wears the Croix do Guerre.
Dr Herbert Golstein is a son of the senior Jewish rabbi at Auckland. lie went away with the 7th Reinforcements and served throughout tho war. Besides gaining the Military Medal, lie was mentioned in despatches. After spending some time at Moorlields specialising in eye treatment, lie was for a time resident surgeon at the London Central Ophthalmic Hospital.
