SEVERE FIGHTING. ROME, July 25. Four thousand Albanians attempted to drive out the Italians from Valona, but were completely repulsed after eight hours fighting. Hundreds were killed by the artillery fire and bombs, and later seventy by the bayonet in a counter attack. «. PRICE REDUCTION BY COMPULSION. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) COPENHAGEN, July 25. 'Plie Berliner Tageblatt states that owing to the high prices of food and clothing, the mob at Treves pillaged the shops and warehouses. The police were overpowered and appealed to the French troops to assist in restoring order. Arrangements are in progress to reduce the prices. OCCUPATION OF THRACE. , CONSTANTINOPLE, July 25. The occupation of Thrace is progressing successfully. The Greeks are march ing on Adrianopl®. AN OIL AGREEMENT. Reuter’s Telegrams. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 24. The Franco-British oil agreement provides that in Roumania the two Govern, ments will support the respective nations with a view to the acquisition of the former German oil interests and other concessions, all shares in the former being half French and half British. In Russia the two Governments support the respective nationals in acquiring concessions. In Mesopotamia, France is to receive twenty-five per cent of the Government output on the market rates, or 25 per cent, in shares in the private companies. The agreement also . provides for the construction of a pipe line to the railway for transportation of oil through the French sphere to the Med iterranean. In North Africa and other ' French colonies, France will give facilities to the Franco-British groups, Britain giving corresponding advantages in the British Crown colonies.

Two brigades have reached Nanyuan, where they took over the quqr ters of the Anfuite on the 15th. Thereason for the advance on Pekin is to secure the complete disarming of the frontier defences. ~
