LONDON, July 23. jAt a meeting of the Australian Estates, Mr "Williamson, the Chairman, referring to Premier Theodore’s speech cabled on the lGtli inst. said the Mother Country would willingly supply all the capital Queensland wants for developing its resources on one condition, that the State contracts, whether with State creditors or with individual lessees arc sacredly observed. The credit of any State must suffer from legislation which fails to observe the elementary conditions of good-faith. No one wishes to interfere with Queensland’s sovereign rights, or to see the development of this magnificent State retarded for lack of loan money, hut if these sovereign rights are so exercised bv the Queensland Government as to deprive any of the State creditors of rights obtained in good faith and in which they have been induced to invest money; the Government cannot complain if the result is to stop further capital going to Queensland. READY TO SUPPORT. PARIS, July 23. A telegram from Budapest states the new Hungarian Premier in a Ministerial declaration said that Hungary could offer military support to the Entente. THE AERIAL DERBY. (Received this day at, 8 a.m.) LONDON, July 24. Great crowds witnessed the start and finish of the Aerial Derby. Points of vantage along the course also were thronged, particularly Epsom Downs. The leather was unsettled and the wind strong, hot. the visibility was good. There were fifteen starters, the limit men including iianunersly and Hi tickler. They had such a long start that they completed the first circuit before the highest-powered machines started. F. Courtney oil a 300 horse power Martynside Semiquaver, won the Derby, averaging 153 V miles hourly. The Handicap resulted Hammersley 1, Hinckler 2, Courtney 3. Hammersley won the 1910 Handicap. AERIAL DERBY. 'Received this day at 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, July 25. Courtney made a - had landing, the machine hitting the ground heavily and turning a somersault. The pilot crawled out uninjured. Hawker who was third, reached the aerodrome in handicap time, but was disqualified for taking the wrong, course. SOVIET AND GERMANY. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) BERLIN, July 23. The Soviet representatives have assured the Government the Reds will not cross the German frontier. They aimed rather at using Poland as a bridge foi trade relations with Germany. TI-IE LEAGUE OF NATIONS. (Received this day at 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, July 24. The Council of the League of Nations is meeting at San Sebastian oil 30th July to consider the economic measures to he taken against States warring in violation of the obligations which they accepted as members of the League.
A BOLSHEVIK DEFEAT. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) TEHERAN, July 23. The Persian gendarmes defeated the Bolsheviks’ Jaugali force. They drove them back to the boats on the Caspian, and the Bolsheviks re-embarked and departed. PRINCE’S INDIAN VISIT. LONDON, July 21. The Prince of Wales is due at Bombay on the 21st of December. The visit will extend till April. JEWS AND PALESTINE. LONDON, .July 25. A second Zionist Conference lias adopted a scheme to raise £25,000,000 to promote a. Palestine settlement. Delegates contributed a hundred thousand.
NEW ZEALAND LAW CASE. LONDON, July 23. The House of Lords has dismissed the income tax appeal case of the preference stock-holders versus the New Zealand and Australian Land Company.
