BOXING.
(Per Press Association.) BOXING MATCH OF?, ; WANGANUI) July 20. The Boxing contest between Fritz Holland .and Jimmy Clabby, which was to have taken place on Friday niglu, has been abandoned, It seems that the match originally nrrapged between Uren and Holland was to be for a purse of £SOO. Urea was suffering from mumps and Clabby was therefore wired and asked if he would fight Holland. The purse offered was only £4OO. Clabby wired his acceptance. This morning Clabby, who pnly arrived last night declared he had pot heel) aware that Uren and Holland were to fight for a £SOO purse. Clabby declines, as a matter of principle to fight for ft lesser sum. Both sides were adamant, an<l so the contest has been abandoned. It is now stated that Jimmy Clabby, while reiterating his determination no: to fight for less than a purse of £SOO, the same as was offered for the.UrenHolland match, intimated to the Eexcutive that lie was quite willing tlin\ they should hand one hundred' pounds of the money to any local charitable institution they wished.
